Dear Cricket,
I would like to respond to Amethyst (May/June 2023). I desperately would like to be an author. However, I’m not really sure how I would achieve my goals. So far, all I can think of is: Go to a nice college, take writing courses.

I can speak fluent Spanish, but I’ve never actually thought of involving this skill in my future writing career. I hope someday I can. Some writers that have inspired me: J. K. Rowling, Kate DiCamillo, Maud Hart Lovelace, Jessica Townsend, William Goldman, and many more!

Congratulations on fifty years of wonderful reading and art. I might be one of your oldest readers. In 1975, when my daughter and son were young, I discovered magazine. Back then, the issues were bound like a book, and illustrations were done in black and white.
