Okay, I’ve had it. Leo threw his cards down on the table.

An ace and two jacks stared up at Shane accusingly and he forced himself to place his cards down carefully. He knew he was acting like a jerk, but he couldn’t seem to help it.

You haven’t said two words to me all night. What’s up? Leo asked. His dark hair fell across his forehead, partially disguising his frown, but Shane knew it was there. His best friend’s blue eyes snapped with irritation. Internally, he winced. Everyone else was pissed off at him. He really didn’t want Leo mad, too.

He shrugged. I don’t know what you mean. He knew his friend wasn’t going to buy it, but he didn’t want to get into what was bothering him. Denial and repression are your friends, he thought wryly, even as Leo’s expression darkened further.

"No, seriously, what is going on with you lately? You’re starting to make me cranky, and I hate that. I’m a happy guy. Even when I’m not happy, I’m pretty good at faking it so I don’t drive my best friend insane, like some people do, Leo grumbled accusingly, clearly exasperated. I know we don’t usually talk about emotional crap, but it’s been two weeks of this now and I can’t take it anymore. Spill."
