Everybody always wants a peek at the man behind the curtain. They all want to see just exactly what makes an author tick.Which ticks me off just a little bit - but what good is a lifetime if you can't ride out the peeve and ill-feeling and grin through it all. Hi! I am Steve Vernon and I'd love to scare you. Along the way I'll try to entertain you and I guarantee a giggle as well.If you want to picture me just think of that old dude at the campfire spinning out ghost stories and weird adventures and the grand epic saga of how Thud the Second stepped out of his cave with nothing more than a rock in his fist and slew the mighty saber-toothed tiger. If I listed all of the books I've written I'd most likely bore you - and I am allergic to boring so I will not bore you any further. Go and read some of my books. I promise I sound a whole lot better in print than in real life. Heck, I'll even brush my teeth and comb my hair if you think that will help any.For more up-to-date info please follow my blog at:http://stevevernonstoryteller.wordpress.com/And follow me at Twitter:@StephenVernonyours in storytelling,Steve Vernon

What Happened Before
You really ought to go back and read episode one before trying this one out – but if you insist upon impatience far be it from me to hold you back. Just let me make sure that you understand just why this episode is starting out at CHAPTER SEVEN, instead of CHAPTER ONE.
You’ve jumped on a school bus that was halfway down the road – and your GPS got broken a long time ago.
But let me catch you up to speed.
The whole thing started with what was supposed to be a normal – meaning boring – day at school. Then the Black Masks had shown up outside of the school yard and had given each of us a honest-to-god free cell phone.
Which was cool.
Only it wasn’t.
Once those cell phones started flashing and playing Santa Claus is Coming to Town
everything changed all at once. Kids began turning into gray whispering things that stared at their free cell phones and whispered to themselves.
Then the stormtroopers arrived.
I’m talking tanks and assault rifles.
Then Captain Albino showed up. He’s the head-creep in charge of the entire creeped-out invasion force – only I’ve got the feeling that there might be somebody else in charge of Captain Albino.
But what do I know?
I’m just sixteen years old.
We were taken into the gymnasium but I ran for it and got lost in a panicked gallop down a stormtrooper-infested high school until I ran right back into our history classroom – just in time for the gun fire to start.
I figured for sure that I was about to die.
But that comes later.
Chapter Seven - The Goopy Parts
So I stood there in my very own classroom waiting for the bullets to hit.
Waiting to die.
Death is kind of a funny thing to wait for, isn’t it?
I mean, at sixteen years old death seems a long way off – but you never can tell what will happen to you, can you? You might step out onto the road just precisely as the truck driver pulling towards you is afflicted with an unexpected attack of explosive diarrhea. Or maybe an anvil falls from out of a passing helicopter.
Or
