I liked the simplicity of the book. These types of books are hard. You have to imagine what the other sex would feel and try to then put it down into words. I know I would have a hard time putting down what a woman would feel. I find myself repeating what others have written. All too often taken to be real and some of it is.
When men can express their feelings and the writing is down from their point of view then it's about as real as it can be. I think she does a great job covering both sexes, I just miss more story that can build into something extraordinary. Keeping the stories to just 45 pages makes it something to be expected.
I hope to see her writing grow to where a lack of pages for the story doesn't effect it anymore and she can get a great story anyways.

Nobody ever said having a job while going to school would be fun or easy, but in my case it seemed that fate had taken things to entirely new levels of malice. On paper, my job should have been a great gig – the pay was, if not great then at least ok, there was lots of time for me to study, and it was even good experience to put on my resume for graduation in a few years; the fact that I had always been a bit of a book nerd just seemed to make it an even better fit. Despite that, it still, well… sucked. Between going to work at night and school in the day, I quickly found myself without any free time for myself - and as the newest hire on-staff I was given the worst shifts to work. It would have been shocking if I wasn’t, but that didn’t make them any more enjoyable.

I’d managed to get a job in one of the multiple libraries that were on the campus of my university, working as a combination guard/librarian in the basement archives, watching the dusty shelves to make sure that nothing sprouted legs and help anyone who might come by looking for something to do their research with. The desk I had been given looked like it was something that had brought down in the 1950’s and left to rot in place, leaving me with a monstrosity made of wood and steel larger than I was. It was completely immobile in its dimly lit corner, consuming all of the free space around it, while the heavy concrete walls that surrounded me meant any attempts to use my cell phone or laptop to pass the time by surfing the internet were useless. The worst problem by far, however, was that those books were dusty for a reason; nobody came down to my floor in the basement unless they absolutely had to, other than the odd pair of young lovers hoping to find a quiet corner. Even that little bit of company just seemed to make things worse, serving to remind me of just how unlikely it was for me to meet someone of my own while I was buried under literally tons of forgotten paper. It’s not exactly how I had imagined spending my years on campus, but a girl does what she has to, right?

After working for a few months, I’d managed to establish a regular routine with the security guards and the too-few other lucky souls working the graveyard shifts that I interacted with – just long enough that I had begun to feel comfortable with everything, but at the same time also long enough that any excitement or sense of looking forward to going work I might have once had, had faded away long ago. If it wasn’t just a part-time gig, I’d have seriously considered quitting but I needed the money and job experience too much to be able to afford that.

Tonight, with the weekend approaching, traffic was even lower than usual and the shift seemed to be duller than normal, wearing away at my ability to stay awake and somehow ignoring the ludicrous amount of caffeine I’d consumed over
