Lakeside Reunion

This is either going to be the smartest thing I’ve ever done or a total disaster, Chris told himself for the thousandth time. His skin tingled with anticipation as he paced back and forth along the length of the picture window overlooking the front yard. He checked his watch again and then glanced back to where the gravel drive disappeared into the forest. As if on cue, Sean’s black hatchback nosed out, a cloud of dust swirling in its wake.

Chris hardly dared to believe his good luck. He’d hoped Sean would arrive first, giving them some time alone. Not that he planned on spilling his guts immediately, but at least he would have a chance to test their chemistry. Energized, Chris advanced briskly to the front door, yanking it wide open. His heart pounded loudly as the car approached the house, finally rolling to a stop behind his rental. Chris stepped out onto the porch with a wide grin that faded as both the driver side and passenger side doors opened and two men stepped out of the car.

Sean, Tim, hey, you came together! Chris worked hard to keep his disappointment from his voice.

Damn good thing, too. I never would have found this place on my own. When you said remote, man, you really meant it.
