Chacelyn Pierce

A rocker by heart, Chacelyn Pierce is constantly ear plugged with heavy tunes blaring to stir up the phantom personalities that swarm her mind. It’s no surprise that she enjoys writing and reading to satiate her appetite for the male antagonist in a story. Married to a blatant redhead and mothering a diva, there is never a dull moment in the house. As a native Texan, she doesn't personally own a horse but follows the unwritten southern rule of knowing how to ride one. When she’s not testing the emotional capacity of her characters, she works as a dog groomer.

    Chapter One

Hudson Maas hated being a damn third wheel. Yet, it had been a situation he found himself in constantly. Tonight wasn't any different, he simply watched everyone around him having a good time and he couldn’t relax enough to join in. So that made him the oddball out in most situations.

This is not what I had planned as a birthday celebration, Alana. Hudson pushed his bifocals up higher on the bridge of his nose and grimaced at the stench of burnt rubber. This year's birthday had the makings of a disaster. The evening began by means of a nice dinner with his roommate but the nice evening quickly turned into a race rally he wanted no part of. His ears were aching from the insistent revving of engines. There was an autumn chill and the smell of rain floated heavy in the air. Not the best climate conditions for anyone to be hitting up the streets. The surroundings certainly weren't relaxing for an introvert techie like himself. He'd been hauled out of his comfort zone and plopped on some dark back road clustered with adults acting like immature tweens. Street races, of all the damn places, illegal street races at that. Alana drove him right to the most uncomfortable atmosphere he could ever imagine. Being present could land him in trouble with the law. A citation for being here wasn't on his top list of things to done before he died. Alana risked a lot. She knew he couldn't leave on his own but he damned her for bringing him. If only he'd known ahead of time Alana's surprise night of fun would turn into a damn Fast and Furious knockoff. Part of him was glad she'd be moving out in a few months. His next roomie would have to be someone more responsible.

Wondering why Alana ignored his earlier remark, Hudson turned to find her making out with her current man of the month. Mr. Racer had his tongue down Alana's throat and his massive hand gripped her small backside. Hudson shook his head. Their PDA seemed to always go beyond what he could tolerate. There was no doubt in Hudson's mind that he'd probably slip her some drug via tongue. It never took long for her to become completely inebriated in his presence. He groaned. Great, Alana would probably be high as a damn kite when the time came to go. Then he'd be forced to drive and make sure they arrived home safely. Can it get any worse? Driving was a difficult task and longer periods took a lot out of him. If his right leg started hurting too much, he could use his left leg. At least Alana didn't have a manual transmission, which would make his backup plan impossible. Luckily, their house wasn't far if things
