I was born in Virginia, and raised there, along with Alabama & Texas. As an adult I have lived in South Carolina, Connecticut, Nevada, Utah, California, Oregon, Washington, and "The Great Land" aka Alaska. I was fortunate during my time in the Navy to visit Haiti, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and even Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; back when it was a Naval testing grounds and R&R site. I served aboard the USS Orion AS-13 (sub tender) and the USS Sellers DDG-11 (destroyer). My favorite adventure so far was a working vacation at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. The highlight being making HAM radio contact with people around the southern half of the planet; say hello if you ever hear KL2NJ. Additionally I was an Antarctic tour guide and am a recipient of the prestigious "Antarctic Service Medal". After enjoying a God blessed life of carefree travel, cross country motorcycle trips, and sightseeing; it has become necessary for me to settle down. I have a few disabilities and now am hoping to "earn my keep" by telling stories and writing books.

Totem Bight Map
Preface
Greetings, my name is Carlton and I am the author of this book. After years of giving tours, I found that most people want to know the basics. Who carved what, when was it carved, and what is the story. Oh, there are others who want to know every explicit detail; the who, what, where, when, why and how. But most just want to hear the basics, just the facts if you will.
Often with video games or other software, there will be a short walk thru
, a basic how to do it manual. That gave me the idea for this book; it is a walk thru of Totem Bight. There are a few details and I do recommend a couple books if you’re interested. But this book itself will take you on a fulfilling tour of Totem Bight, no guide needed.
I have heard many variations of the stories, some by well read folks, some by misinformed folks and others by natives who have had the stories passed down to them. My stories are not the final word, but rather the general story of the totem. If you want more, consider the books I recommend, they are at the end, just in front of the Totem Bight Map. There are maps available at the park, but often times their depleted by the huge number of people who visit the park, so I included a copy just in case. Enough of this, let’s get to the stories.
Totem Bight
Totem Bight is an Alaska State Park. Originally its name was Mud Bight, but was changed to Totem Bight when the state took over in 1959. The reason there is even a park here was due to discovering a fishing camp on the bight.
The bight is on the north side of the park; when you are exiting the park you will see it. A bight is a shallow indentation
