He's written for the St. Louis Evening Whirl. He is the creator and head writer for the sci-fi web series Artemis Burn. His travel pieces and artist interviews have appeared on numerous websites. He also lived in a bookshop in Paris for awhile, and the Canadian police stole his driver license.

    The Storm Before the Storm

    Work-weary Theresa stabbed at the silver front door latch with her index finger. The stabbing right hand carried her briefcase in the tight clutches of its last three fingers, leaving her pointer and thumb free. Her left hand carried keys. Her left arm wrapped around a paper bag of last-minute groceries. A black purse hung from the same shoulder. She tilted slightly southward to keep the purse from sliding off. Using her one free finger she hooked the handle and swung open the aluminum door. It jiggled in the wind but didn't hit the house. It had been years since she'd hit the house.
