About this ebook

Even granting the possibility of reincarnation, a belief, mainly from India, in the continuation of life in a new body after death, an individual life is still for once. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.

Proponents of reincarnation have a new ally in many modern psychics, who appear to be making an increasingly plausible case for a Westernized view of the ancient doctrine in a way that is free from any need for validation from organized religion. This new, Westernized perspective would rely instead upon hypnosis and other sources of psychic communication, including telepathy, to validate itself.

Garden Urthark’s Weird Life of Joshua Mirabene presents the strange life story, as told through a psychic, of a man from Bethesda, Maryland, who grows up, goes to schools, including college and graduate school, marries, and, in sum, lives virtually his entire life in the Washington, DC, area.

Chapter 1: A Session with a Psychic Begins

The divorce had not been easy. Yes, I had gone to Harvard and I was proud of it. Yes, my parents had been wealthy and had managed the fortune handed down to them by my grandparents, just as my grandparents had done with the fortune handed down to them, and so on, one generation to the next, and I was proud of that also.

I had an appointment with a family close to home, a very nice family from Bethesda, and as usual, I was running late. I had had to drop Bucky off for soccer practice.

It was after nine when I pulled into the lot at the hospital. I was fifteen minutes late when I arrived at the room. The deaf wife and hearing son of the gentleman who had arranged for the reading rose to meet me.

Interpreting the mother’s sign language for me, the boy said, He’s in a coma.

I looked down at the bed before me. The father was older than I had expected, about sixty. The boy then confessed that he was not good enough as a signer to interpret all I might have to say for his mother.

I could see the father’s spirit guide by the bed, a faint emanation that most people, had they been able to perceive reality the way I did, would have described as a ghost.

How long has he been this way? I asked, taking off my coat.

Since early this morning, the boy answered.

The boy was cute, about the same age as my Bucky.

Are you sure you want to stay for this? I asked.

Yes, he answered confidently, indicating the intelligence and wisdom of a highly evolved soul.

Please have a seat, both of you. I saw that they made themselves comfortable in chairs on the window side of the bed. I pulled up a chair on the other side, setting my recorder on the table by my side of the bed.

Since I’ll be going into a trance, I explained, I’ll need to record whatever I’m about to say. Otherwise, I’ll have no idea what I’ve said.

Both mother and son stared back uncomprehendingly at me.

"I’ll send you a copy of the tape so
