TRAINING YOUR AMERICAN COCKER SPANIEL PUPPY
Starting off correctly, right from the first day home with your new American Cocker Spaniel puppy, is one way to ensure training goes as smoothly as possible. Remember that your new puppy is nervous about being in a strange place, separated from its mother and littermates, as well as being around totally new people. Making the transition to the new home as stress free as possible is very critical and one of the earliest things to consider even before you ever go to pick the puppy up.
Before bringing the puppy home, take the few steps that are needed to make sure your home is puppy proof. This will ensure that the puppy is safe as well as protecting any belongings that the puppy might chew. Get down on all-fours and look at things from the puppy’s perspective, looking for anything that might appeal to the puppy. Moving things that may be chewed or ingested will help to provide a safe place for the puppy to stay. Once the puppy has learned to leave things alone, some or all of the objects may be placed back in their original spots. Removing any objects that raise the puppy’s curiosity will make for a smoother
