    TRAINING YOUR BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG

TRAINING YOUR BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG PUPPY

Starting off correctly, right from the first day home with your new Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, is one way to make training go as smoothly as possible. Remember that your new puppy is nervous about being in a strange place, separated from his or her mother and littermates, as well as with totally new people. Making the transition to the new home as stress free as possible is very critical, and one of the earliest things to consider occurs before you ever go to pick the puppy up.

Before bringing the puppy home, following a few steps to make sure the home is puppy proof will ensure that the puppy is safe and so are any belongings that the puppy may chew. Take a look at the puppy’s level. Get down on the floor and look for anything that may appeal to the puppy. Moving things that may be chewed on or ingested will help to provide a safe place for the puppy to stay. Once the puppy has learned to leave things alone, the objects can be placed back in their original spots. Removing any objects that raise the puppy’s curiosity makes for a smoother transition into the new surroundings.

The first two and three weeks may be too early to start training a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, as they make be too young to retain anything
