John Murray is a 49 year old widower, an ex-Police, ex-MI6, ex management consultant, ready to make a new start.

He picks up a female hitch-hiker Gabrielle, a frustrated author running from Paris after a confrontation with a lascivious would-be publisher Mathieu. She had picked up some of Mathieu’s documents with her manuscript.
An encounter with Pierre an unpleasant former acquaintance from Paris who is chasing Gabrielle, is followed by a series of events that make John call on all his old skills of survival to keep them both safe over the next few days.
The documents disclose the real background of the so called publisher who is in fact a high level international crook.
To survive the pair agree to take the fight to the enemy, they have no illusions, their chances of survival are slim, but with the help of some of John’s old contacts, things start happening.

David is 79 years old. He lives in Scotland and has been writing for the past five years. He has had three guidebooks published and two more coming out through Argyll Publishing, located in the Highlands. He still guides tours through Scotland, when he is not writing or painting. He has sailed for decades and has a lifelong interest in the history of the navy. As a young man, he learned to fly aircraft in the RAF and spent 8 years as a Colonial police officer in what is now Malawi, Central Africa.
