About this ebook
On April 12, 1861, the Civil War of the United States of America began when the Confederate States of America fired on Fort Sumter. The war officially lasted until April 9, 1865.
Between the beginning and the end of this turbulent time in the United States, many families were torn asunder. Brother fought against brother, neighbor fought against neighbor; it was a sorry chapter in America’s history! It was a time of hard feelings between families and relatives, and it was one of the most costly wars in lives America has ever seen.
And this wasn’t the end of the bloodshed. Thousands of civilians , mostly in the south, died at the hands of the armies and carpetbaggers that infested the South after the war ended.
This is the story of one of those families forced to live through the trials and tribulations of the time.
This book is dedicated to the men and women that fought and died in the American Civil War.
R. Howard Trembly
R. Howard Trembly is a Navy veteran, pilot, philosopher, professional photographer, and business owner in the Pacific Northwest. In the past he has written nonfiction books and started his career in the field of fiction by writing several short stories, then moved quickly into writing Western mystery novels. At the age of 10, he was the only witness and survivor of a multiple murder, with the murderer doing everything he could to make the boy his fourth victim. R. Howard Trembly uses that experience to bring the antagonist in his books to life, with the realism that will have you looking over your shoulder, as you read each of his novels. After the murders he lived with his uncle on the Tally Ho Ranch where he learned to break horses at the age of 13. He has been married to his wife Karen for over 30 years and has two sons and three grandsons.
