Fragments: A Mini Anthology of Poems
()
About this ebook
"Fragments: A Mini Anthology of Poems" looks at a number of social concerns without making any attempts to critique or analyze them. Instead, this short collection of poem seeks to address these issues from a voice that is only interested in telling a story, thereby leaving the task of decoding to the reader. Consisting of only fourteen poems, the anthology carries pieces that are autobiographical, some that only bear biographical resemblances and others that simply happened. A part of the allure comes from the deliberate omission of any label that could indicate which is which, save for one member of the batch.
Thematic concerns include:
- Tabooed romantic relationships with poems like "My Sweet Sin" as well as "Trial and Error".
- The social construct of femininity as told through "Against Time".
- Paternity and abandonment reflected through "No Glory" which looks at the other side of awarding paternity to the wrong father (i.e. a look at the man who goes without his paternal rights) and "A Poem for You" which looks at the issue of paternal abandonment from the point of view of the child.
-Romance, sex and sexuality, a theme reflected in poems like "The Man in My Head", "Nowhere" and "My Vibrator (written at the request/challenge of a friend)".
The goal of “Fragments...” is simply to offer a honest, unabashed account of things we often overlook or deny. In the end I can only hope to give a voice to anyone who can relate. Dive in and enjoy!

I'm everything from a full time writer to an amateur chef, doting aunt, sarcastic and overly creative mind, mischievous but great friend, the world's best daughter, sister and niece, as well as an unfortunate soul suffering from allergy to sleep! Oh yea, I hail from Jamaica, probably read too much and I get bored easily. I also love the internet almost as much as I love food (which is A LOT) and hope to never work another "day job" ever again!

A Poet’s Confession
Forgive me father for I have sinned.
Nothing but silence fills the space around me.
With guilt I continue,
Knowing that although no one would hear,
this needed to be done.
The need to purge the soul is strong;
