    I sit at the kitchen table and read my anthropology book while Jim and Kelly yell at each other in their bedroom. I try not to listen but can’t help it, especially when Kelly shrieks Sex! and starts sobbing. Philip heads straight for their door, pauses to smile at me, and walks right in. I hold my breath and let it out when my brother and sister-in-law finally shut up for their son’s sake.
