Love Fraud - How marriage to a sociopath fulfilled my spiritual plan (Abridged edition)

About this ebook
"Love Fraud" tells two parallel stories. The first is the outrageous true story of Donna Andersen's marriage to a sociopathic con artist, James Alwyn Montgomery, originally of Sydney, Australia. Montgomery took a quarter-million dollars from her, cheated with at least six women during a two-and-a-half-year relationship, had a child with one of them, and ten days after Andersen left him, married the mother of the child. It was the second time he committed bigamy.
The second story is about Andersen's personal spiritual journey. Seeking to understand why her life was ravaged, Andersen developed an ability to channel spiritual guidance, and learned that her soul planned the entire debacle. The object of the exercise was for her to experience and then release the devastating betrayal, so that she could return to wholeness.
Although Love Fraud is a work of nonfiction, it is written with the lush description, empathetic character development and dramatic tension of a novel. The e-book edition is abridged, yet is still a riveting tale with a satisfying, inspirational ending.
Key points of Love Fraud
Sociopaths have no heart, no conscience and no remorse—and sometimes people engage with them for their own spiritual growth. This book:
1. Shows the true nature of sociopaths—exploitation of everyone they meet.
2. Portrays in-depth how sociopaths deceive and manipulate their victims.
3. Exposes the limitations of laws and social institutions in dealing with sociopaths.
4. Illustrates how metaphysical concepts play out in an individual life story.
5. Explains how traumas from past lives affect our present lives.
6. Reveals how our souls choose painful lessons to help us return to wholeness.
As many as 12 percent of the population—37 million people in the United States—have personality disorders that make them unsuitable as romantic partners. For people unaware of these human predators, "Love Fraud" is a stern warning. For people who have tangled with sociopaths, "Love Fraud" explains why it happens.
Donna Andersen
Donna Andersen is author "Love Fraud—How marriage to a sociopath fulfilled my spiritual plan." She is also author of Lovefraud.com, a website and blog that teaches people how to recognize and recover from sociopaths. Her new book is "Red Flags of Love Fraud—10 signs you're dating a sociopath." Donna learned about sociopaths the hard way—by marrying one. James Alwyn Montgomery, originally of Sydney, Australia, met her and quickly proposed in 1996. In two and a half years, Montgomery defrauded her of $227,000, cheated on her with at least six women, fathered a child with one of them, and then, 10 days after Andersen left him, married the mother of the child. It was the second time he committed bigamy. This man had no conscience, no empathy and lied prolifically—which Donna learned, far too late, were the cardinal signs of a sociopath. In 2005, Donna launched Lovefraud.com to educate the public about this destructive personality disorder. Lovefraud.com now receives almost 2,000 visits every day, and is considered the best source on the Internet about sociopaths. Donna has collected more than 3,000 cases of people targeted by sociopaths, and the Lovefraud blog has evolved into a healing community of survivors. Donna receives many e-mails thanking Lovefraud for saving their lives. Donna has worked as a freelance copywriter since 1983, and was the original editor of Atlantic City Magazine from 1978 to 1982. She graduated summa cum laude from the Syracuse University's S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 1978. While at college she co-founded a student magazine and worked at the student newspaper, the Daily Orange.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Reavealing and truly satisfying read that confirmed without a single shred of a doubt that I myself was enmeshed with a sociopath. Encouraging and captivating story by Donna Andersen with a happy ending and inspiring resources that ignite hope for healing and faith in life. Very entertaining and clarifying, written eloquently and truthfully. I’m grateful for having found this book on my own healing journey, it has propelled it to move fast forward in the right direction finally. A spell has been broken and I am free of my tormentor.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I don’t know who this book is for. I appreciate the detail but it makes this woman look extremely naive and out of touch as well as the perfect victim. Even her description of the psychic was like wow this woman is clueless. I can’t really feel bad for someone like this. There are manipulators and liars everywhere and if you are THIS naive someone is going to take you for a ride. Likely repeatedly.
Anyone with half a brain would consider the men in her story to be gigantic waving red flags with sirens blaring and run like hell. It actually does a great disservice to intelligent aware women who have been duped by extremely manipulative men who go to great lengths not to set off alarms and cover all their tracks. Many of these women don’t discover the monster they are now married to for years and after it’s too late. And this is after years of getting to know them. Not getting married right away before even knowing them. It seems like she was more interested in flash than actually developing an emotional connection and she speaks NOTHING of emotional connections before jumping into bed. So essentially she was given a few gifts, talked up, taken to a few nice places and jumped in bed. Many NSP men carry on and cover up entire separate lives while being married.1 person found this helpful
