About this ebook

The late Teens and early Twenties take a toll on a women's soul. Societal pressure pushes a girl to become a woman - fast. The acceptable and expected means follow finding a man who fulfills her childhood dreams of romance; forget trying to find herself.

However, every girl and woman needs to know she is not alone. The book of poems identify and empathize the journey. Specifically on embracing the pain and heartbreak of love, and living through the fog.

What the poems do not tell: Every journey has a good ending, no matter how long or different.

Jessica Respondek

Stay at home mom with an MBA from the University of Florida. Motto: begin everyday with a green-saving mind. Writing started as a result of a passion for the environment. While I have not always been consciously “green”, I have consistently been frugal as taught by my grandmother who lived thru the Great Depression. After living in various places like Hawaii and an island in South Carolina, the environment caught my eye as an entity that needed a voice. In addition to having blogged for Creative Loafing Tampa Green Community, I was a speaker at the 2007 SGMP SE Regional Conference about ways to green your meetings, office, and lifestyle. And have served on the Board and as campaign leader with Suncoast Chapter Surfrider Foundation since 2007. In 2008, the Respondek household finished implementing many of the “green” ways and achieved a 25% usage reduction on their electric and water bills. Since then, the ball has kept rolling and she uses her work experience, Business education, and now mommy-hood to inspire and be creative in living sustainability through words. The Book, "Struggling in Love" completes a goal set 20 years ago = I will publish a poetry book [check].

    Tonight

    Tonight is the night I have let go.

    Tonight is the night I feel free.

    What happens all around,

    I could care less.

    My wings unstrapped and feeling the breeze,

    The air carries me away.

    The scent uplifts.

    Tonight is the night the world has changed.

    Tonight is the night I have let go.

    You know something fades away, when the butterflies are gone.

    The smiles begin to fade, as the hello's are forgotten.

    The kisses which once melted all your fears, die away;

    Like the light turning off for slumber.

    You know something dissipates, when the flowers disappear.

    The slight caresses and gentle strokes, no longer exist.

    The anticipation of a phone call, turns to a longing for a ring.

    You know when something fades away,

    When you place the feeling in words.

    All day long

    Thoughts of you torture my mind.

    I am constantly searching for answers.

    But the only reply I receive, provides another question.

    What happened?

    I feel as though I have fallen off my horse;

    And she ran away.

    Where did you
