    Chapter One

Consciousness came abruptly, like having a bucket of ice water dumped on me. My eyes opened to unfamiliar territory. My fingers clutched at wet leaves. Faint sounds of crickets chirped in my ears. Bird songs twittered above my head as each variety sought out a companion. Lifting my head, I was instantly sorry as a wallop of a headache pounded my temples. It felt like I’d had too much wine the night before, but the sour aftertaste of alcohol didn’t cling to the back of my throat.

How did I get here? I wondered. I took a breath and tried getting up again. This time my head was in a little better shape, but my whole body ached. Muscles I never knew I had were awakened. Sitting up slowly, I gazed around my surroundings. Trees. Tall bare trees that had currently shed their leaves, leaving the woodland floor looking like the sunset had fallen on it. The aroma of wet leaves and damp earth surrounded me. An indentation showed I had been there for hours and had almost nestled into the Earth’s womb for warmth. I was dressed in a pair of faded and torn blue jeans, a white plaid shirt, and only one sock. I checked the area for my other sock, but didn’t see it.

I ran my hand through my hair and came back with bits of leaves and twigs. Great, just great. I’ll be washing my hair for a week to get Mother Nature out. Where am I?

The headache dulled as I scrutinized my brain for some memory of the events that had transpired. I remembered Allison’s party. Five of us were celebrating her and Gail’s ten-year wedding anniversary and Gail's birthday. As a joke, we went to a male strip club. Gail had protested at first, but after we got a couple of drinks in her, she had a blast and had far more lap dances done than any of us. Allison had been a little jealous and hoped Gail wouldn’t suddenly go straight on her because of all the hot guys she was touching and the dicks being pressed in her face. I had a couple of drinks, but nothing to knock me out enough to end up in the woods.

I got up and stretched, cracking my joints as I did. The noise echoed in the forest. I knew then that I was out in the middle of nowhere. It was only dawn, and I had to find my way out of here and figure out where the hell I was. I glanced at my nails. Dirt was caked underneath. There goes my manicure. Another one hundred bucks down the drain.

A shiver ran through me when I began walking and the leaves squished between my toes.

As the sun rose, I came to a clearing with log cabin in the middle of it. Long before I found it, I smelled the smoke from the chimney. Outside the house was enough wood to heat a small city. A shiny axe was sunk into a stump. A swing rustled on a sturdy chain. However, I didn’t see a road or a gravel driveway. The only way out was a worn footpath through the trees.

This is it. Hopefully, whoever is in residence won’t be a psycho and decide to eat me for dinner. I shook my heard. Margaret, you’ve been watching too many horror movies.

I smiled to myself and wiped off as many leaves and bugs as I could from my jaunt in the woods and tried to look presentable. I stepped up onto the porch and noticed a blanket neatly folded on the swing. I also saw something white poking out too. It was my other sock. Terror moved through me. My raised fist stopped in midair before it hit the screen door. I still had no memory of being there.

Suddenly, I jumped as man’s hand wrapped around my wrist. My heart went into my throat. My gaze shifted from my lost sock to his harsh hazel eyes. His grip was strong enough to hold me, but not to bruise.

Hello, Margaret. So nice you decided to come back. There was a sneer in his voice.

I swallowed my heart again. Oh shit! I said under my breath.

Who are you? Where am I? Did you kidnap me and now you want to kill me?

He pulled me inside and into him. His lips collided with mine. They were slightly dry, but for some reason my body molded to his without question. His tongue snaked between my lips, and mine met his in a wrestling match. He ripped my shirt open and cupped my breasts underneath, kneading them hard. I wanted more of it. My hands answered the call of the lust surging through my body by raking my nails over his butt. I heard him snarl as he deepened his kiss, and I was putty in his hands.

God, what am I doing? I don’t know this guy, but why does he seem so familiar? His ass is rock hard, and I want to feel all of his flesh. I want him to fuck me ten ways ‘til Sunday until the positions in the Kama Sutra are considered clean. What the hell? Who the hell is this guy? Why am I debating this? He is fuckable, and I am so ready for him!

The stranger pulled away and growled low in his throat. His eyes glowed amber and sucked me in. I felt myself falling and losing my will. I reached for his face, but he closed his eyes. When he did, I felt my mind come back to me. I shook my head. A
