CHAPTER ONE
"Hi Jake, it’s your father. How is my boy? I just want to know how you were doing and to know if you have made up your mind on what we talked about.
Get back to me when you get this message. See ya.
Jake sighed with frustration after getting this message. He had hoped and prayed his father would forget about this topic they had talked about a week ago.
Jake Tinsel was a tall well-muscled very handsome young man in his early thirties. He had the dark tanned features of an ancient Roman god and was the dream of every pretty girl, to whom he seemed to turn a blind eye to. He was a hardworking man who always had business in his mind and always business before pleasures of life.
Many girls believed him to be one of the most handsome, eligible bachelors they had ever met, and at the same time, the coldest, for they believed he had a heart of stone. A week ago, he had paid his dad a visit at New York City. Jake’s dad, Mr. Tinsel Jones was one of the most famous men in the country. He owned a chain of amalgams and ran and oil company. He was one of the richest men in the city. Jake’s mum Mrs. Tinsel Sarah died two years ago from liver cancer. This had left father and son totally heart broken. Jake had a step brother, William Tinsel who lived in New Jersey. Mr. Jones Tinsel had gotten William’s mother pregnant when he was still in high school, though he never loved her. She later got married to another man and left William with his dad.
Mr. Jones was known to the world as a hard business man always bore a gracious smile and dealt with his workers with all courtesy and respect they deserved. In his household he was known to be the most gracious dad who taught his children the essence of life. Despite all the riches which surrounded them Jake and William had to work for their earnings. Despite the number of housemaids, they still had chores which they did every morning, for their dad brought them up in the concept of no sweat, no sweet
. Mr. Jones formerly was an atheist. But after a ghastly accident which he survived, he believed there was a greater force in the Heavens which had saved him, so he brought his children up with the fear of the Lord.
Jake was a petrochemical engineer who worked for an oil company in Chicago and was doing well for himself. But Mr. Tinsel Jones wasn’t happy about it. He wanted Jake to work in his company at New York City. Jake never wanted to work with his dad because he knew his freedom was going to be limited. But the old man had pleaded with him for the past two years after his graduation from M.I.T. Mr. Jones wanted Jake to manage the Jones Oil Company while he focused on the other businesses. William couldn’t run any of the companies because he was a medical doctor and was constantly at work at New Jersey. Jake, having turned down his dad’s offer had decided to work instead for a friend of his dad, at Chicago. After staring at the phone for about ten minutes, he picked up the phone and called his dad.
CHAPTER TWO
Hello Jake, is that you?’’, asked Mr. Jones. Jake paused for five seconds and replied
yes dad, I’ve made up my mind. A brief moment of silence transpired.
I’m coming home dad", replied Jake. The old man leapt with joy from his chair in his office.
Thank you my son for making your dad happy. I promise you won’t regret this
Mr. Jones said. Hope I don’t’’, Jake replied in a murmur.
Dad, Jake said ‘’concerning the issue of marriage. I think you shouldn’t force me into making the wrong choice, because I know I’m not ready yet. When the time comes, I’ll let you know
. After a brief moment of silence Mr. Jones replied its okay my son. I respect your decision, but I’m waiting for you. When are you coming home?
Asked Mr. Jones Dad I need to make a few arrangements here, so give me two weeks
said Jakes. It’s okay son. Thanks again
. With that, he hung up.
Jake had not been totally void of love for he had had previous relationships which hadn’t worked out. His first girlfriend, Verlda, had left him in pursue of her dreams to become a model at Los Angeles. His second, Kate, had broken his heart when she was caught in bed with one of Jakes close friends. That incident transformed his loving heart into one
