About this ebook

One Direction is a British/Irish boy band who came together as a band after each appearing as solo artists on the British version of the X Factor. Although good singers they didn’t get through to the finals and someone (read the book to find out who) suggested they get together to form a band. Luck for us they did. After spending five weeks perfecting their talents they again performed in the X Factor, they didn’t win but showed such great promise they signed by a record label (do you know who?). This great simple guide takes a look at the history of the band, some amazing facts and then we go into more detail on each of the boys, Liam, Niall, Louis, Zayn and Harry. The book is a mix of short easy to read paragraphs followed up by some short easy to read facts. We have over 300 facts you can read to learn about your favourite member of One Direction. What do they like in girls? Would they date a fan? According to a facebook survey, who is the most popular member of the band? These and many, many more questions will be answered.

    The New British Invasion

The era of the Boy Band seemed to have disappeared back in the 1990’s with the breakup of New Kids’ on the Block, N’sync, 98 degrees and several others that had girls swooning from all over the world at the hotties behind the microphones. Everyone thought that was the end of the Boy Band Era. But as they say, Never say Never! A New era has begun and it all started out with a popular show in the UK called The X Factor and its infamous Judge Simon Cowell.

In 2010, five young men decided to try out for the popular reality T.V. show as individual singers, to try their luck for fame and fortune. Unfortunately, none of the young men qualified for the boy’s category of the show on their own. They were all good, but not quite good enough in the eyes of the judges to make it to the next round. Until a guest judge, Pussy Cat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger, suggested that the five young men be put into a one five-piece boy band qualifying them for the groups category giving them a chance at the competition that way. With the approval of head judge Simon Cowell and the other Judges, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik became One Direction.

This British/Irish boy band only had five weeks to get themselves together as a band before the next stage of the competition and they met every day for those five
