The boys’ first single, What Makes You Beautiful was released on the 11th September 2011. It made number one in the UK the very next week.

The group finished third on X-Factor’s seventh series in the UK.

Each of the boys actually entered X-Factor individually, but failed to qualify - until someone came up with the genius idea of combining them into a fantastic group!

The boys say their biggest musical inspiration are Take That.

The album Up All Night was the 16th biggest selling in the UK of 2011.

Their second single, Gotta Be You was first released on the 13th November 2011, and made number three in the UK charts.

The deal that One Direction signed with Syco Music was worth £2 million!
