The last decade has seen an explosion in works addressing these issues. But to what effect? Based on more than a decade of experience and research, this resource introduces the basic essential information needed to respond to child sex slavery, sex trafficking and other forms of sexual exploitation. It explains the key elements of the problem, examines the essentials of effective responses, and offers practical advice and guidance for getting started or improving your existing response.
Christa Crawford
Christa is an expert and consultant with more than a decade of experience working to end human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Thailand and the Greater Mekong Subregion at both the grassroots and policy level. She has worked for the United Nations and the International Justice Mission. She co-founded The Garden of Hope and pioneered its vocational training and social enterprise program before moving into a full-time consulting role with Trafficking Resource Connection. Her services include expert advice and referrals, development and sharing of resources, and teaching and training. Christa speaks, writes and teaches internationally on the issues of trafficking and sexual exploitation. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Fuller Seminary’s Children at Risk Program where she teaches “Ministry to Sexually Exploited and Trafficked Children.” She also edits children-at-risk books and training curriculum for Phyllis Kilbourn's Crisis Care Training International. Christa has authored two books about human trafficking: So You Want to Rescue Child Sex Slaves and Combatting Human Trafficking in Asia: A Resource Guide to International and Regional Legal Instruments, Political Commitments and Recommended Practices (United Nations, 2003). She is co-editor of Finding Our Way through the Traffick: Exploring the Complexities of a Christian Response to Sexual Exploitation and Sex Trafficking (co-edited with Glenn Miles, Gundelina Vasquez and Tania DoCarmo, forthcoming). Her articles and book chapters have been published in the Cardozo Journal of Law and Gender, Understanding God's Heart for Children, Family and Faith in Asia, and the Journal of Asian Mission, among others. Christa is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Claremont McKenna College.
