About this ebook
Make your retirement years a time of relaxation and enjoyment. Gardening, a hobby that interests many retirees can be made even more interesting by planting by the phases of the moon.
It seems to be an accepted fact that all elderly ladies knit. This is in fact not the case as many women were too busy to have the time to sit and knit when they were younger. It could be that you never had the opportunity to learn this craft, but now that you have the time and want to start a new hobby you will find knitting a very relaxing and fulfilling hobby.

Hobbies for Retirees
Many prospective retirees look forward to retirement after many years of commuting to the office daily and going through the same routine day after day. Now they can look forward to having plenty of free time to do what they please, when they please. Many times this dream can become sour if you have not planned adequately for retirement. If you have too much time on your hands it can become not only frustrating, but very boring if you have nothing constructive to do all day. This state of affairs can lead to unhappiness and even physical illness. If, however, you are a person with interesting hobbies, which you can share and discuss with friends and family, it keeps your interest in life alive.
It is a fact that many people look forward to retirement, while others dread the thought of having nothing constructive to do with their time. It is a good idea to plan ahead before you reach retirement age, and decide what you intend doing with your new-found freedom when the time comes.
How Do You Get Started?
How do I get started with a hobby and how do I know what really interests me? Do your friends tend to invite you over when there's a problem with their computer or car? Do they ask for your advice on gardening or woodwork? Are you particularly good at knitting, crocheting and needle work or would you like to learn these crafts?
If you answered yes to some of these questions, you will know what your particular interest are and you can start doing something more intensely, that you enjoy. There might even be untapped money hidden in your hobby. You could start earning extra money from your hobbies as it would not only be a way of keeping busy, but of earning a little extra cash to enjoy life a little more.
Finding an engrossing hobby that interests you or continuing with one you already have, can make all the difference between making your leisurely time at home enjoyable or boring. There are no rules about what sort of hobbies retirees should enjoy; it will depend entirely on your physical health, ability and your general interests.
After all is said and done, retirees have worked hard most of their adult lives and now wish to have leisure time and enjoy life as they want to. A hobby should therefore be something that fills your empty hours with something interesting and enjoyable. You might have always wanted more time to read books. Join the local library or download books from the internet and start reading all the books you have always wanted to.
By choosing a hobby that you can do with others is a good idea, as it is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends. Learning new arts and crafts, which involve attending a few classes, are also very stimulating and enjoyable. Join walking groups and clubs, or swimming classes or any other type of activity that is offered in your town or city that you think you will enjoy participating in.
You could take up skydiving or start growing tomatoes or take up knitting, it all depends on what will give you satisfaction and make you get up
