Preface
This is a story of one unremarkable man who started off with no real direction in life. He studied agriculture and became a journalist. He took a remarkable person’s ideas and with them may have changed the way all of us live and behave. This quiet little man has probably had and will continue to have a profound effect on your life, your beliefs, your values and your behavior, yet today virtually nobody knows his name.
There is one single factor that binds all people on our planet, those alive and all those who have passed, it is that every one of us has spent our lives in the pursuit of happiness.
Why is it that of the 7 billion people on the planet, possibly billions of us, particularly in the developed world, are either dissatisfied with life or just plain unhappy?
Does this suggest that in our pursuit of happiness we just may have never understood what happiness is and how to achieve it?
We all know that happiness is a state of mind, so what is it about our daily life that stops us finding sustainable happiness as opposed to the pursuit of pleasure, which most of us are engaged in and which is just a short term phase?
