The entire Norwood family often gathered on Saturdays at the house on Maple Lane. Charles and Evelyn Norwood had built the large Long Island house, which was also home to their two young girls, Betty Ann, aged 11, and Caroline, aged 9. Grandparents, brothers and cousins would descend upon the home from miles around, and engage in food, songs and games until they were too tired to go on any longer.
