About this ebook
Built in the quiet moments between pitch-perfect dialogue, Something That's True is existential humanism played out in miniature. The blue-collar strip clubs and grease-pits of a Smalltown, USA serve as the backdrop for this yarn of quiet love and betrayal, wherein the truth really can set you free.

the girl asked, brushing Gil with her inner thigh. 80’s rock blared down—the Scorpions. Black lights illuminated neon stars, and reflected off the drunken maze of mirrors. The music sank into the carpet, into the dingy velvet chairs. The smoke clung. A few men sat at small lacquered tables, smoking and drinking and dreaming. He pretended not to hear her, and tried to think of something clever to say. She asked again—flat, all business. Her knee crept up his thigh, inched closer to his tingling center.
You know, if I did get a dance...I’d get one from you,
he started. But I don’t think my girlfriend would approve.
He jammed his beer in his mouth and thought just stop talking you idiot.
You ain’t the first man ever been to Shakers with a girl at home,
