About this ebook

Elizabeth Maine 1950s starlet, 70s sex symbol and 80s US soap queen has been lured out of retirement to star in Eastwood Avenue, a British soap opera. What her fans don’t know is that Elizabeth’s upper class image is a lie; she is really Lizzie Gallagher from Liverpool; a single mother at 15, she was forced to have her baby adopted and was disowned by her family. When her son Christopher, cheats on his fiance, she asks her journalist mother, Elaine, to write an expose on Lizzie. When the two women meet they reach an understanding, but Lizzie feels the time has come for her to confess all. She asks Elaine to write her biography and this means revisiting a painful past littered with addictions, infidelities and mental illness. Lizzie isn’t afraid to tell all about her many lovers, battles with alcoholism and the sexual abuse she suffered as a child. What frightens her most is telling Christopher the truth about the baby girl she gave away fifty years ago and the lasting impact she has had on both their lives.

Julia Mendoza is driven by the success of her business. Since her husband Carlos passed away at such a young age, her business By Design is her number one priority. In her late twenties she works too hard and doesn’t take time out for fun. Annoyance with a pesky ex-friend has her begging one of the local surfer’s with a cheeky smile in the grocery store to pretend he’s her boyfriend. Suddenly, life takes a sudden detour from her business plan; much to the delight of her boisterous Latin American family. Christophe Augustine is groomed to take over his father’s successful chain of luxurious hotels. With a wealthy French-American background, Chris has been given privileges that not many have. He works hard, plays harder but seeks approval and recognition above all else. Family is a top priority for him as he fights for custody of his young brother. His parent’s divorce has not diminished his faith in romance. When a gorgeous Latino woman changes one boring morning into an interesting game of role play, though reluctant to help at first, he soon realises she’s not like the string of other women he’s known. A romantic first date ending dramatically doesn’t stop Chris from wanting to know Julia more. And for Julia, she’s all for a bit of fun but when things get too serious she’s running the other way. Too alike, in some ways and complete opposites, in other ways, Julia and Chris fumble through fun moments, annoying confrontations, passionate times and heartbreaking revelations. Love has no boundaries when soul-mates meet but when one is ready to love and the other one isn’t….

Wowza! Suzan Battah's debut novel is absolutely FANTABULOUS!!!!! This is a book that gripped me from the beginning with it's sweet, funny start, and kept me hooked until the very last page with all it's twists and turns. The characters were full of complex issues yet they were perfect for the story line. I loved Julia's character. I got a little perturbed at her here and there as she kept Christophe "The Augustine Boy" Augustine at a distance. I understand her feelings of not wanting to get close again after loosing her husband...her best friend since they were in high school....at an early age. The fear of loving again can be strong and overbearing, but Chris' character was so amazingly sexy and sweet that Julia needed to open her eyes before she lost a good thing!!! I had fun laughing with her, and getting scared but I wanted to shake her a few times and say "wake up,doll"! Chris. WOW. What a totally handsomely hunky surfie, Augustine Hotel owner. Now THAT is man to drool over just reading about him, and all his good qualities. When he lay eyes on Julia the first time, he can't get over her, even plays along with her charade to avoid a crazy ex-friend stalker. With the twists and turns that follow you can't help but fall in love with Chris over and over....and over again! This story of second chances and soulmates is absolutely AWESOME! For a debut novel, Suzan Battah has captured the essence of a masterful author in one shot. This is most definitely another greatastic favorite and high on my 5 Book worthy recommendation list. I can't wait to see what Ms. Battah has in store for new fans! And a forever fan am I! What are you waiting for???!!! GO GRAB YOUR COPY NOW!!! Julia Mendoza is not worried about her love life. Since the death of her young husband, this beautiful Latino woman has spent her time and energy focusing instead upon her business, despite the wishes of her outgoing and boisterous family. But when an ex-friend begins to pester her in public, Julia convinces an attractive and charming surfer whom she encounters in a grocery store to act as her boyfriend just to circumvent the friend's annoyance. Initially, the young man, Christophe Augustine, is reluctant, but this is just the beginning of something remarkable and tumultuous for both of them. After a dramatic first date, Chris is determined to know Julia better. In his own life, he too is focused upon professional successes and receiving the recognition and approval of family. As he prepares to take control of his father's luxury hotel chain, romance seems far from his mind. But the chemistry between these two is undeniable, and it seems that Julia is now challenged by a love she was not expecting to have from this chance encounter. As the relationship between Julia and Chris grows more serious and intense, she is tempted to flee from the situation. But soul-mates are difficult to tear apart, even when one of the pair is unprepared to love. Find out where this serendipitous experience with romance leads in Mad About the Boy, the debut novel from Suzan Battah. Battah is an executive assistant with a busy day-time schedule, but her passion for writing has her pounding the computer keys until the late hours of each night. Her first novel is an entertaining and imaginative romance with a good blend of humor and sensitivity to the plight of lovers in the hectic modern world. It is right for any fanatic of funny, yet serious romantic fiction. Although this is only her first completed novel, you can expect to read more from Battah in the future, as she aspires to share her knack for storytelling with as many people as possible. Look for Mad About the Boy, now in bookstores everywhere.

Mad About the Boy by Suzan BattahJulia was shopping when Kelly saw her and attempted to meet up with her.Julia found a cute guy and asked him to be her pretned boyfriend and he agreed to have dinner with her Friday night in exchange. They finally got rid of Kelly and exchanged cell phone numbers and then left the store.Kelly was mad that she'd not heard back from Sebastian when she thought Julia was dating him.By Designs is her company and a lot of the detailed descriptions are about the places she goes through and sees. She's not felt anything for a man since her husband died 2 years ago.He is a surfing champion and also is part owner of THE Augustine Hotel there in Miami.Surfing lessons, like to learn new things with each book I read.He has the hots for her but is too busy with charity events he has no time for himself. She has the hots for him and wants him but her dead husbands face keeps coming into her line of vision and she feels like she'd be out of line by forgetting him and moving onto another man. After a long time in the hospital recuperating from a car crash her mother in law comes to the rescue and gets her to not feel guilty and to start eating again. He whisked her away for a few days to a pivate island where we find it a hot and steamy scene. They return after much needed relaxation to their jobs which leave them but just a few hours every week to get together with one another. The wedding of her girlfriend finally happens and he has had a visit from his fathers wife, leaving Dylan the 4 yo at his apartment, til she takes him back from the nursery school.Health issues arise leaving him very concerned about her.Death, custody and other major things happen that keep them away from one another and at the same time bring them together. Will they ever be at a place where both of them can come together?

This book is great! I tend to get bored with books that drag on, or have the stereotypical storyline.. but when I started reading the first few pages, I couldn't put it down! It brings to life so many emotions that we can all relate to. I would definitely recommend this to book to anyone who likes to be kept on their toes.. Question is, does she get the boy? .... you have to read it to find out :)
