The Sum of It Not your mother's poetry

A short volume of poetry written over a 35 year period, expressing the emotions of certain events throughout the author's life. Some poems are funny, some are sad, and some are angry, however all are true and honest. Each poem was written as if to record an event. The emotions expressed are strong and direct. While the feeling conveyed through the poetry may no longer be accurate, it was once upon a time.

It is my hope that some readers will identify with the poetry and know they are not alone and what is causing them pain will pass.

Sherry Hightower

Although born and raised in Texas, I have lived in many states including Florida, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon and South Carolina. In 1994 I received my Bachelors Degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX and have worked in a variety of fields. Today I live Houston, TX where I am close to my children and grandchildren. Besides writing poetry, I enjoy digital photography, genealogy, typography and graphics.
