Prologue

The future is an unknown territory. It is the year 2058 and our Mother Earth is in a pre-apocalyptic tailspin. Humans have disrespected and not taken care of our Mother Earth entrusted to humankind. The heavens are angry. Technology has gotten out of control. Technological mutations have given rise to half-human droid mutants who are on a mission to conquer and destroy all of mankind at any costs. A now defunct and powerless Censure is nothing more than a shadow government. If this chaos is not stopped a mass extinction will take place. Will the Senior Council Collective and the Renegades be able to save us from the droids? Who and what will be left standing?

Chapter 1

We Have a Problem

They all stood at the window looking out at the full moon. It is the seventh day of the full moon. The purplish skies have brought rain, thunder, and lightning. The Gods are angry, the Senior Council Collective leader said pensively as he walked back to the Oak Room.

This was no longer a society known as a thriving metropolis. It was no longer a society. Since the blackouts darkness had fallen. Silver City was becoming a ghost town. There were rumors of high-ranking government officials and the wealthy securing space in underground cities, but there has been no proof and no contact.

Something is bothering him, one SCC member whispered to the other about the SCC leader. Yes, and it’s more than usual.

The SCC leader wouldn’t admit what was on his mind. On some level he was overwhelmed with fear. He felt that the survival of our Mother Earth and all of humanity depended on the strategy and success of the SCC and the Renegade Missions.

As an ambulance siren screams through the streets in wee hours of the night on its way to the Emergency Room, the Senior Council Collective is having another meeting.

"We have a problem. We’ve seen the evidence. We established the Senior Council Collective (the SCC) because this technology is getting out of control!

These incidents of Q-pod, cell phone malfunctions, and other tech burns to the body from these devices overheating are just the tip of the iceberg. We’re calling these malfunctions tech-fry incidents. These tech-fry malfunctions and burns have already caused mutated humans that we have labeled droids because they are part human, part tech, and part robot."

You mean they used to be human. We could be dealing with another species! another SCC member exclaims. (He pauses. Yes, used to be human is accurate since we do believe that some of the mutations are so advanced. We must stop these tech-fry malfunctions before they get out of control. As you already know several teams of scientists have reached out to help us with this situation. We have many concerns.

Our mission is to get to the root of the problem before it becomes an epidemic. We do not know how long these mutations have been cooking, so to speak. At the same time we must work towards reversing or at least stopping these Droid mutations. We scouted out several locations to work from and we narrowed it down to the armory in Zone 4. We must mobilize! With team work we can do this! But I know we’ll have a battle ahead of us.

Yes, everyone is walking around with a cell phone, blue-tooth and a Q-pod. The footage you are about to see includes snapshots of our SCC missions throughout Silver City in different zones. One of our contacts managed to sneak out some Emergency Room information with pictures of the tech-fry burns on various un-named patients. We will review these Emergency Room Doctors’ reports, an SCC member says.

It’s more than just ‘tech malfunctions’ sending people to their Doctor’s offices and to the Emergency Room with horrible and in some cases grotesque burns. In some cases the devices have had to be surgically removed. In other cases the devices could not be surgically removed. These patients have had to simultaneously be treated for third-degree burns and some have succumbed to their injuries. What they’re afraid to report are the tech-fry malfunctions that have caused horrible burns to the body, burning through clothing and have fused onto various parts of the body. Thus morphing the arm, head, waist, or whatever part of the body it overheats and rendering them helpless. Hence the name droids – half-human, part robot, part tech, another SCC member says.
