Bible Promises for Peace of Mind - Compiled by Barbour Staff

    World

    CHILDREN

Children are, without a doubt, a priceless gift. But from the very start in a mother’s womb—or perhaps even before, in cases of infertility—children cause us to worry… . Will he develop okay, healthy and strong? Will she ever outgrow this colic? Will he adjust to school? Will she find good friends? Are we teaching him enough at home? Is she ready to drive safely? Can he handle a job, sports, and schoolwork? Is she ready to be on her own? Will he follow God’s will or his own?

Those questions barely scratch the surface of the many concerns of raising children. But we must remember that the best earthly parent is never as good as our heavenly Father. Peace of mind about our children comes from trusting that they are not just our own but ultimately His, trusting in His promises about them, and trusting that He loves them even more than we do.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

    3 JOHN 1:4

And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

    HEBREWS 2:13

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

    EPHESIANS 6:4

Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

    COLOSSIANS 3:21

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

    2 TIMOTHY 3:14–17

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

    ROMANS 8:16–17

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

    1 CORINTHIANS 13:11

Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

    2 CORINTHIANS 12:14–15

A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

    JOHN 16:21

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

    MATTHEW 7:11

And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

    LUKE 16:8

But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto to me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God … . And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

    MARK 10:14, 16

David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.

    2 SAMUEL 12:16

For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him.

    1 SAMUEL 1:27

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

    PROVERBS 20:11

Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

    PROVERBS 29:17

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

    PROVERBS 22:15
