About this ebook
Peter Ross just wanted a vacation. After years toiling in the radiology department of a large American hospital, he dreams of lying on a Spanish beach with a beautiful girl. The beach proves just as lovely as he hoped. But the girl turns out to be trouble.
Angela Locke is on the run from a pair of gangs waging war over a missing artifact, and she sucks Ross straight into the crossfire. From sunny Spain to rain-swept Paris, Ross’s trip will take him into Europe’s darkest corners. An ordinary man on the run for his life, he must uncover a centuries-old secret, or risk becoming its next victim.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Absolute HCC thriller with bare plot and characters, but fun to spend a day or so reading.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was ok for what it was. A quick light pulp adventure. Some ok plot twists and lots of intrigue. If you want a pulp story and it doesn't have to be good, just scratch the itch. This is it.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Very different than his "regular" stuff. Seems like he wrote this quickly over a weekend. Very quick plot. More of a humorous caper story than a hard boiled mystery. Worth the read, but the new video interview sections were annoying. Should have reprinted the story without adding it.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Another early Crichton published under his John Lang pseudonym. As usual, it's vaguely entertaining and yet utterly implausible. He starts with a decent noir framework but then piles on a ridiculous number of plot twists that leave me wanting something simpler. The prologue and epilogue may have been added by him when Hard Case reissued this in 2006.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I got one thing from this book. Don't trust anybody, and I mean anybody.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing story overall. I like that the author has the character names talking unlike other books where i don't know who's talking gets me lost and figuring who is who speaking. Great work!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A Curio book - John Lange being a pen named used by Michael Crichton in the 60's. Like the other half dozen I've already read it is a good time passer, but this one had two glaring ...inconsistencies?
Toward the end of the novel the author tries to pull off a standard 'you think its one person but its really another!' switch, but it just feels botched. The second problem is the framing device used - the novel has an intro and outro as a fantastic story being told by a grandfather to a grandson - but the outro makes specific reference to DVD's?? There is no mention on the copyright page of any update to the text so....What the Hell? Was it added later and not copyrighted, was it an update from an older phrase like 8-track that was un-credited? If so, who made the change? And what else has been altered in the book??
