- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Though I am not finished reading the book, I must say I'm very satisfied with this treatment of the subject. I find it very accessible, yet thankfully not "dumbed down". The science is presented in a very clear and uncluttered manner, i.e. not bogged down in a myriad of footnotes, oblique references and obfuscating terminology. Like I just did right there! :)
Bottom line is: if you're interested in what the latest scientific research says about the sport you love, this will scratch that itch!
Okay I've finished. I admit towards the end of the book my eyelids were starting to flutter with all the numbers and graphs that were thrown at me. The moral? You probably weren't REALLY interested in the science of tennis, you were interested in some ADVANTAGE the science of tennis was going to give you. And through that lens, I have reduced my rating by one star. There was ultimately some disappointment that the authors didn't come right out and say, "We recommend THIS", but left you bewildered in a cloud of numbers and graphs. Thanks, Science.
