More Income for Average People - Fred V Betzner

    made.

    Introduction

    Seriously, it’s not that hard!

    And, it’s worth it!

    I love this quote.

If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend six sharpening my ax.

    Abraham Lincoln

Figuratively speaking, before you start swinging, I hope you will take the time to think, plan, and prepare…the equivalent of sharpening your ax.

The information outlined in this book is based on an action plan I developed many years ago to assist family members and friends who were looking for a way to earn extra income. Some of them were retired, others were facing unexpected additional expenses and some had lost their jobs.

As you might imagine, I found that every case was totally different. Therefore, I realized that everyone needed some general steps that can be made specific to their situation, as they fill in the blanks according to their personal situation and need.

The people I shared this with were not interested in a part time job working for someone else. For the most part, I dealt with people who wanted control over their time and energy, as well as power over their profits.

Certainly, there are many people that would prefer the part time work for someone else route. But, there are also many people that see working for someone else as a situation of making money for someone else, and reaping a meager share of money.

Many of them didn’t want to start a business, generally because they were frightened by the unknown. But in many cases, once they understood the process, options, and ultimate potential, they often had the confidence to take the plunge.

Over time, I have read about thousands of people who applied similar methods as those I had developed and had become very successful, many to the point of leaving their old job behind and working for themselves. But, don’t feel you have to leave your regular job in order to be successful. Many people love their career path, and find it personally fulfilling and rewarding.

I like to refer to this plan as a flexible foundation. You can begin here and go in any direction you choose. You may be happy working three or four hours a week at something you enjoy, but you probably want more if your reading this book, probably much more.

Essentially, the options are working part time for someone else, making their business and lives more successful. Or, with a little extra effort, you can work part time for yourself, and make your life more successful and rewarding. In that case, you have the choice of keeping things small or expanding as large as your venture will support.

Many years ago when I was in college, I took a course in public speaking. My professor at the time was himself a great speaker, and I had great respect for his teaching, knowledge, presentational skills. One morning in class he made a statement that I initially refused to believe.

He said, You need to develop the ability to prepare and present a speech so that it can be understood by someone in the third grade.

My immediate thought was, That’s nonsense! You can’t talk down to people like their third graders!

After class I asked the professor if I could speak with him, and he agreed to meet me in his office. Once we were there and we sat down, he said, What’s on your mind? I told him I disagreed with his suggestion we speak on a third grade level, because people would be insulted if you talked down to them, and treated them like children.

    My wise professor then said,
