About this ebook

These poems represent what I think people who interacted with Jesus might have said when questioned by those seeking to understand Him. I have used my imagination to tell a bit about these people's lives before and after meeting Him also. Some He healed, some He inspired, some rejected His message, some hated Him, some killed Him.

And Then He Touched Me - Wayne Robinson

    them.

    The Marriage in Cana

A Servant at The Wedding at Cana

    John 2:1-12

T’was from Nazareth I seen them two come,

    Jesus and His ol’ mum.

They brought a change of clothing, but baggage?

    Nope, just a gift package.

They came to this wedding in Galilee

    Of Mary’s youngest niece.

I was servin’ good wine the bridegroom bought

    To that dry, thirsty lot.

I was upset as I poured the last draught

With no wine to be bought

In Cana and for miles and miles from there.

    What a bungled affair!

I overheard Mary whisper to her son,

They have no more wine, hon.

Woman, what to me and thee? He replied.

    My hour hasn’t arrived.

To us stunned servants Mary softly cooed,

Please do what he tells you.

He pointed to six stone wash water jars.

    Go fill these with water.

Grumbling, we put thirty gallons in each.

    He ordered confidently,

Take some to the president of the feast.

Them big jars never left my sight, I vow!

And do you know what? Wow!

The president tasted wine not water,

    And the wine was better

By far than the wine we done served before.

    Under his breath he swore.

Everyone serves good wine first and worst last,

    (Takin’ the groom to task)

"When the guests are well wined. And you? You passed

    Over the best till last!"

You may think that us servants are uncouth.

    Boss never learned the truth.

We did tell Simon, the big fisherman,

    Who was His biggest fan.

We looked ’round, but Jesus had departed.

    Then the rumors started.

Me and my boys know for actual fact

    That Jesus’s wondrous act

Was a miracle worthy of Moses

    Done right under our noses.

I became a believer then and there.

I know God sent Him here.

Three years later Jesus’s divine mission

    Was explained by Simon.

I am still the president’s right hand man,

But I preach when I can.

When I work a wedding, I keep in mind

    Those jars of holy wine:

The heralds of wine that’s holier still.

With grace our souls it fills.

    Jesus Preaching in the Synagogue

    The Pharisee

    Matthew 4:23

When I first heard the Nazarene, I must admit

His teaching in this most holy
