Author

George Orwell

George Orwell (1903–1950), the pen name of Eric Arthur Blair, was an English novelist, essayist, and critic. He was born in India and educated at Eton. After service with the Indian Imperial Police in Burma, he returned to Europe to earn his living by writing. An author and journalist, Orwell was one of the most prominent and influential figures in twentieth-century literature. His unique political allegory Animal Farm was published in 1945, and it was this novel, together with the dystopia of 1984 (1949), which brought him worldwide fame.

The audio quality is so outdated that, combined with the narrator's accent, I could only make out every 3rd or 5th word. Not good for trying to actually understand what's going on.

At normal speed it was fine to listen to. The very beginning is the sound of a radio tuning in. Perhaps that is what the others refer to as inaudible. It is fine to listen to comrades.

Terrible recording. Couldn’t even get past introductory. Can’t understand any conversation between characters.

It was difficult to follow and it seems the recording was repeated. It's confusing if the story is starting again it the character is having a flash back

Not an audiobook (if you expect one)... whatever it is the recording quality makes it nearly impossible to listen to this...

This radio broadcast was recorded in 1965 and it sounds like it. The static is louder than the audio.
