About this audiobook

The scene of this entertaining story is laid in a charming English village. The plot centres round Miss Barbara Buncle, a maiden lady who was obliged to write a book because – as she naively explained – her dividends were so poor. Unfortunately, Miss Buncle had no imagination, so she wrote about her friends – quite kindly and truthfully, of course, for she was a benevolent and veracious soul.

The reactions of her friends to Miss Buncle’s book, however, were a little surprising, and the far-reaching and unexpected results of its publication caused quite a stir.

A delightful book written by a clever woman. I look forward to reading more of her books, starting directly with the next in the Miss Buncle series.

This book is positively hilarious !
It's a good example of how people respond when they hear the truth of what they are like , instead of only what they want to hear and what they want others perceive them to be.

The audiobook is fantastic! Ive listened to it 3 times. The reader does a phenomenal job and is Miss Buncle to me. The story is very cozy. You follow Miss Buncle and her neighbors through every day like and small town drama. I've been meaning to check out more of D.E. Stevenson's work, even the sequel to this book, but keep listening to this one instead.

I’m overjoyed to find an author whose work tickles and gentles me. It was a safe harbor in chaotic times. I can’t wait to read her other books! Patricia Gallimore who read the book is a genius. She brought the characters to life with her wonderfully varied voices.
