About this audiobook
WINNER of the 2006 RT Bookclub Magazine Reviewer's Choice Award!
Vladamir of Kessen, Duke of Lakeshire Castle, is feared as a demon in the land of Wessex. The kings have granted him a title of nobility in exchange for his part as a political prisoner. Discontent, he bides his time in his new home until war will once again rip through the land. But boredom soon turns to pleasure as the daughter of his most hated enemy is left for dead at his castle gate. Now the monster bides his time plotting revenge.
Lady Eden of Hawks' Nest doesn't know what to think of the man who saved her life, but she can't wrench her thoughts away. His words are those of a tyrant, true to his vicious reputation, but his touch is that of a man, stirring passion when there should only be fear.
It would seem the infamous monster is not as monstrous as he appears.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5So far I pretty much liked every book I have listened to by this author, this is my first historical romance by her. It was good, not as good as her Syfy books (Lords of the Var/Draig) or her Supernatural books (MacGregor Warlocks) but still enjoyable, I love her writing style so that's never a hardship. The problem I had with this book is that it gave me a bit of a whiplash in regards to the Vladimir treatment of Eden, one minute he is very passionate the next very cold and in some instances it was very jarring. Still on the whole was a good story.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This had such a bonkers description that I went in with low expectations. It's also narrated by Mason Lloyd, and he basically uses the Ice Planet Barbarians voice for Vlad so...I was definitely inclined to like this.
There's a definite a few points where I was unsure, a bit assertive and against her will, a bit dub-con. But he never really stuck to his plans that go against her will, so it ended up being ok. And I like the detail that she was able to calm him down.
The end confused me. It's a HEA but I don't understand how we got there. Which is fine I guess. And the "secret reveals" were maybe less than savoury. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love love love this book. Thank you for the laughs, suspense, and midevil theme. Thank you to Mason Lloyd for another thrilling adventure through your narration of the story, bringing life to each character with ease.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really like this book and will definitely read more from this author. Without giving anything away, the make up with the dad is a cop out. Overall any book that made me laugh and cry and occasionally want to shake the characters.
