About this audiobook
Returning home to the Scottish Highlands after battling the English, Tayg Munro receives a hero’s welcome—and a shocking ultimatum. In order to take his place as heir to the chiefdom of Culrain, he must choose a wife within the month or have one chosen for him. Angered by his family’s decree, Tayg delays the inevitable by volunteering for a mission for the king that takes him deep into the Highlands. Preoccupied by his marital obligation, the brooding warrior sets out with no hint of the fateful encounter that awaits him…
Catriona MacLeod is known throughout the Highlands as the Shrew of Assynt, thanks to her razor-sharp tongue and her unwillingness to yield to her five brothers. When she’s told that her eldest brother has promised her hand in marriage to a man she has good reason to hate, she flees into the Scottish wilderness, determined to seek the king’s intervention in her plight. When she reluctantly joins forces with a handsome traveler, she cannot anticipate the treacherous plot that will soon embroil them—nor the passion that will ignite between them.
Laurin Wittig
Laurin Wittig was indoctrinated into her Scottish heritage at birth when her parents chose her oddly spelled name from a plethora of Scottish family names. At ten, Laurin attended her first MacGregor clan gathering with her grandparents, and her first ceilidh (kay-lee), a Scottish party, where she danced to the bagpipes with the hereditary chieftain of the clan. At eleven, she visited Scotland for the first time, and it has inhabited her imagination ever since. She writes bestselling and award-winning Scottish medieval romances and lives in southeastern Virginia. For more information about all of Laurin’s books, visit LaurinWittig.com.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5As an audiobook this was horrendous. I couldn't get past the narration. I may try to read it myself just because the reviews about the story are positive. DNF.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The narrators bad and loud attempt at a Scotish accent was very off putting and I couldn't get through til thd end! Otherwise the story was good!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Best books I have read in a while. I only give 5 stars to those books I truly love and this book is one of the few. A book you won’t put down and full of surprises.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5There was much to enjoy in this book, but toward the end the heroine's "stubbornness" turned to willful stupidity and I DNF. The narrator was easy to listen to except for the heroine's voice which remained grating throughout.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5There is just something special about this book - it is full of intrigue, devious plotting, and a good splash of slow burn romance. I was not a huge fan of the heroine at the beginning, but as the book progresses you start to understand the reasons behind her behaviour and sharp tongue. Although I like my books to have a little more spice, I still really enjoyed this novel. The only ‘negatives’ I have is that the hero was a little repetitive about the heroine’s features and how he found them beautiful, he uses a bunch of synonyms to describe her hair, skin, and eyes ?. Also the narrator was okay, not the best and not the worst. Regardless of these minor criticisms, I definitely think you should still have a listen!

Narration 3/5 - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Best highland romance I have listened to date!! And I have listened to at least 50! Excellent in every way…story, narration, and great plot!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I think this is my first book by Laurin. It exceeded my expectations by far. Stubborn lass, Scottish warrior, treachery and treason. It does not get better than this.
