About this audiobook

How far will he go to keep them safe?

It was more than a break-in. More than a stalking. It was personal. When a stalker targets his wife and two daughters, journalist Jack Crittendon must uncover who the person is and what his motives are - if he is to protect the ones he loves. The investigation leads Crittendon into a world of behind-closed-door secrets and faith gone awry, as does his story on a missing pastor, whose apparent suicide is more than it appears.

Each move Crittendon makes weaves him tighter and tighter into a web of lies, greed, hypocrisy, sin, and danger. He believed he'd never give in to fear and the hate it leads to. But that was before. And holding on to his faith won't be easy. Nor will keeping his family safe and ending the terror. Because that might require him to step over lines he said he would never cross.

This fast-paced story accelerated quickly on multiple tracks. The deep dive into the multiple points of view gave the story humanity and a more complete grasp of the interwoven actions.
I love this story for its directness in how the characters struggle in life and faith. Now, I’m hooked on this series wherever it leads.
The author is a master storyteller!

This book is an excellent Christian read. It is a great thriller that has a lot of godly principles but yet is a page turner. And once you start reading it you can’t put it down. I highly recommend this book.

If you are looking for a psychological thriller that will keep you turning the pages while holding your breath, then pick up a copy of Creston Mapes’ novel, Fear Has A Name, book one in The Crittendon Files series. I listened to the audio version and had a hard time turning it off. In fact I found lots of excuses to extend my listening time. Tightly written, this book will appeal to those who like Steven James. The action starts from the very beginning. The Crittendon family is subjected to a home invasion. And that’s just the start of the nightmare that includes stalking and kidnapping. A seemingly unrelated story line of a missing pastor is the focus of Jack Crittendon’s newspaper investigation. But the two stories come together in an unusual way that demonstrates God’s plan and sovereignty.Fear Has A Name is an action packed novel, with some very well-developed characters. They struggle with real life problems — depression, doubt and insecurity. When faced with extreme stress, they react in credible ways. The bad guy, Grainger Meade, is especially compelling. The product of twisted religion and abuse, he is at once despicable and sympathetic. The plot is multi-layered, and I wondered just where the author was going with the story lines. But Mapes brings all things together to show just how God works behind the scenes, though we can trace His hand if we look close enough. The audiobook reader did a good job of providing the many voices of the characters with their turmoil and torment.I highly recommend Fear Has A Name for anyone looking for a taut thriller, and I am looking forward to reading more from this talented author.Highly Recommended.Audience: adults.

I won a free copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway.

This book is filled with suspense, from beginning to end. The book never has a dull moment.

The story is seen through different characters' perspectives; about four (4) characters.

Although the book is a Christian fiction, the topic of fear is not a fictional topic. This story can apply to real fears that people face, and it provides an example of what Christians can do when they face fearful situations.

Overall, I enjoyed this book because the story contains many elements of mystery and suspense that made me want to keep on reading. Also, the author did a good job at mixing fictional elements of the story with realistic elements.

I can't wait for the next book in "The Crittendon Files".

When his home is broken into, Jack Crittendon does all he can to reassure his wife that it was an isolated incident and that she had no need to fear. However, when their wedding picture turns up missing, it appears things are more sinister than they first appeared. As Crittendon investigates who is targeting his family, he struggles to hold onto his faith and not to turn back to his violent past. Along with protecting his family, Crittendon also finds himself involved with an investigation into the apparent suicide of a missing pastor that is also a former acquaintance. Will Crittendon be able to protect his family and hold onto his beliefs? Will he be able to find the missing pastor before it is too late?Fear Has a Name is a must read. The novel is filled with the perfect amount of suspense and narrative. It keeps you wanting more. The characters are true to life and very believable, pushing the plot along, making them more than names on a page. The way that Crittendon and his wife handle being stalked accurately represents the different reactions that victims often experience, including the advantages and disadvantages of owning a gun for self-protection. The story causes the reader to evaluate how far they are willing to go to protect themselves. The novel also addresses the problem of fraud and scandal within churches, and the repercussions of making those suffering from depression feel like they are less than a mentally healthy individual. Overall, this is a wonderfully well written novel that not only tells a story, but also causes the reader to think about today’s problems.Rating: 4Heat Rating: NoneReviewed by: AprilPReview Courtesy of My Book Addiction and More

Touches What You Fear the MostCreston Mapes builds an intricate plot weaving themes of a wondering pastor fighting depression, home invasion, and parental abuse due to twisted Christianity. A parent’s biggest fear is the safety and security of his/her children, and this book strikes that tender area. The tension is tight throughout the book, and the questions make the reader think about their choices, plans, and assumptions. This is an excellent choice for anyone who appreciates a wild ride that keeps you guessing until the end.

It is a thriller revolving around two storylines: a mysteriously missing pastor and the dangerous harassment of a reporter and his family. His family is dead aim in a stalker's sights. And the man is closing in. For journalist Jack Crittendon, it's personal, and protecting them will take every ounce of his tattered faith.Embezzlement. False accusation. Blackmail. Abduction. A wolf hidden in sheep's clothing. Creston Mapes takes readers on a psychological roller coaster that feeds on our deepest fears. It draws you in with the suspense of a great story line. The characters are very interesting in their own right. It pulls you in and doesn't let go until the very end! I loved the writing style too which I found very smooth. It certainly had me hooked. I actually had to set it aside until I could devote a good chunk of time to its consumption. The story moves along at a smart clip, giving readers just enough time to absorb their surroundings before moving onto the next locale. Nearly every scene was important for plot development, which means that readers who are easily bored will find themselves paying rapt attention. This book is an unusual read, but I still found myself enjoying it. The characters are very different and I actually liked them. I will say I had it figured out very early and the ending just proved I was right. I would recommend this book.
