- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5AMAZING I LOVE IT SO FREAKING MUCH!! OLIVE IS THE BEST!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was super cute and relatable. As a person with Osteoporosis Imperfecta I loved reading a book where the main character was like me. This would be a great book for kids with OI or a great teaching tool for kids and adults who don’t. Awareness is important. ?

― Natalie Lloyd, Hummingbird
I love reading middle grade novels. As a reading teacher, I make it a practice to read through the Sequoyah reading list. One of the reasons I love doing this is because it exposes me to a large variety of literature, and keeps me from reading from the same diet of books.
This story is magical. Not because of the genre, but because it taps into the power of friendship, love, acceptance, and most of all-hope. Olive, our 12-year-old protagonist, has spent her life being homeschooled because she has a chronic disease. Her deepest desire it to attend Macklemore Middle School. After a heartwarming persuasive speech, her family decides to let her attend. This begins the unfolding of Olive's opportunity to experience life as she has always dreamed.
Olive, along with her newfound friend, are taken by the town legend of the Hummingbird and make the decision to find it and making one of them its next focus for granting a wish. Through a few twists and turns, this dynamic duo is joined by Olive's step-brother in their quest.
Olive is a strong, determined, sweet, and compassionate character whose spunk and spirit courts the reader into fallin in love with her.
This story gave me the opportunity to hope again, to accept the skin I'm in, and to look for the good in others. I highly recommend this read! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great story, and I enjoyed the enthusiasm of the narrator. A modern fairy tale, so sweet
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Natalie Lloyd has done it again. A moving and powerful story with a touch of magic, and a way with words. The narrator helps make the South come to life.
