About this audiobook

For Ella Eastman, firefighting is life. She’s devoted her body to being the best, but everyone needs a break from reality once in a while.

For Morgan Hail, art is life, but she has to make a living.

Their lives collide when television fandoms intersect at The Blacktree Comic Palooza. Morgan’s captivating fanart leads to a heated misunderstanding, and a cosplay contest brings these two women together–though only one of them knows the truth. This unlikely pairing heats up when their real-world lives collide, but what will happen to their budding romance when Ella reveals her secret identity? And can they find a way to make things work when Ella’s job hits a little too close to home?

Conned is a story of love, loss, new beginnings, and fandom.

While there are trigger warnings, they in my opinion weren't heavy enough to trigger. I really enjoyed the story and narration.

Fun story with lots of depth
This was an enjoyable romance with some flaws. I listened to the audiobook. The narrator was new to me and very good. The pacing didn't seem perfect. It seemed like months passed in a few pages, and the relationship seemed to develop too fast. I really liked both main characters and their backstories. I'm not sure I understood Morgan's sexuality. And the author made it seem like Ella was a player, but we never saw any evidence of that. It's a fun story but not light, with lots of grief and hurt/comfort, but it was all handled well. The ending seemed somewhat sudden, but it was still satisfying. Since I only listened to the audiobook, it was hard to judge the writing itself. At times, sentences were awkward and I didn't always get the meaning. I wonder if the story would have been easier to follow if I had read the ebook.
