About this audiobook

Amateur Sleuth Samantha Kidd is in over her head.

With no job prospects on the horizon, former fashion buyer Samantha Kidd convinces boyfriend and shoe designer Nick Taylor to give her a job. But when close friend Eddie asks for help with an exhibit of vintage Hollywood costumes, she splits her time between romance and comedy--until a dead man claims all of her attention.

Brimming with good intentions, she leave the investigation to the cops, but the killer keeps Eddie in the crosshairs. If Samantha can tear the lid off the investigation, it might mean a feather in her fedora. And if she can't? Her best friend might get capped.

The Brim Reaper is the third fashionable book in the delightful Samantha Kidd mystery series. If you like zany capers, feisty characters, and funny crime fiction, you’ll love Diane Vallere’s humorous mystery.

I started mid-series with this book and after reading it I definitely want to read the rest of the books. I love a mystery with a hook and in this case the hook is fashion. I enjoyed Samantha, her fashion sense, and her friends. The mystery was fairly solid, though there were some clues that I picked up on early and then spent the rest of the book wondering why no one else had noticed them.

This was my first read in the Samantha Kidd series and I enjoyed it. I love mystery/thriller and especially is they involve women doing the investigation. The book was good with great characters and a lot of unexpected twist and turns. The story is about Samantha Kidd who gets her boyfriend Nick Taylor to hire her to help with his designer shoe showroom. Meanwhile, her friend Eddie is in charge of setting up for a huge hat exhibit and asks Samantha for some help. While there a light fixture nearly falls on them and when they are set to leave they find a dead body. Then boxes of hats mysteriously disappear. Samantha tells the cops about the murder and is there for the interview but then somehow she can’t get away from the investigation and immerses herself to solving the crime. This is a good murder/mystery/who dunn’ it. I will keep your attention and keep you guessing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the clever mix of a young, breath-of-fresh-air fashionista with a writing that is reminiscent of old style mystery.

The book kept me engaged until the end, and offered a good story and good characters. I have not read the first 2 in the series, but you can jump right into this book without feeling like you're lost or missing something.

The Brim Reaper is the second book by Vallere that I have read, and I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first. Once again Samantha Kidd finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation, and naturally things become chaotic. The one thing that really stands out for me in this series is the characters, and The Brim Reaper brings the characters that I have come to enjoy back for another adventure. Samantha is a great leading character, but I really have come to enjoy Vallere's secondary characters like Eddie, Cat, Dante, and Nick just as much. These secondary characters really add to the story, and they all really compliment the Samantha character in their own way. Vallere delivers another intriguing mystery in this installment of the series, and it kept me guessing until the end. Overall The Brim Reaper was an enjoyable read, and I look forward to reading another Samantha Kidd adventure.Received a copy of The Brim Reaper through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
