I like and dislike this series. The basic concept is good, the writing and narration are good, but something is missing. Needs more development of plot, characters, etc. you keep feeling as if you skipped a chapter or something. The author is probably a really good author, otherwise I doubt if I’d have paid for two books by her and still want more. Unfortunately, I want or need more because there was too much that was not fully developed. It’s almost like listening to someone outlining a great idea and now I want the finished project!I can only hope that she’ll go back and develope these stories better - they could be so good.

Jacob & Emilia have been tethered against their will and are now on a quest to find her mother and possibly gain some kind of advantage over the Pendragon, Emilia's birth father. Along the way they have encounters with the hag and hopefully find some advantage to battle against the Dragons.

Sadly I haven't had the pleasure of reading The Tethering, but I think I picked up the story easily enough in The Siren's Realm. Due to this, I had no idea how they where tethered, other than a rescue attempt, this did take me a little while to figure out. I believe this does stand alone extremely well, but is even better after reading the first book - I guess.

The story is well told, and at a very steady pace, neither too fast or slow. And the characters, are well thought out and developed. Sadly though I didn't really find the story line believable. Or Jacob come to that! Two teenagers, alone, tethered together, and only platonic? Come on we all know there is almost zero chance of that ever happening. Maybe I few might but it isn't the norm by a long shot.

Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I'm looking forward to book 3.

I liked this book even better than the first in the series ( click to see my review ). A lot of the basic world building was done but the continued addition of details felt very natural. I got to know both Emilia and Jacob much more. Through the book I empathized with Emilia far more than in the first. The story is told a bit more from her perspective so I was able to understand the thoughts behind some of her actions. The other characters in the book were still just as interesting. I’m interested to see if we might get to know even more about the Siren in future books as I was very curious about the events involving her. I was interested enough that I feel an entire series could branch off just about the Siren and her activities and the few characters we were briefly introduced to. I was a little annoyed by the reactions of a few characters, especially at the end. A few of the surprises I could see coming, including one fairly major one. I still enjoyed it though and am looking forward to the next book in the series! This was provided free from the author through Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion and I was compensated in no other manner.
