About this audiobook

Although the vast majority of human beings have always believed in the universe having a creator, concepts of God vary greatly among them today. For many people, important questions remain unresolved such as: Are religions divine in origin or man made? Can God really do "all things" like some scriptures claim? Could He create a rock too heavy for Him to lift? Who created the Creator and did God become man?

In this audiobook, Jamaican-born scholar Dr. Bilal Philips uses the light of reason to examine and challenge popular concepts of God in major world religions including Christianity, Islam and Hinduism.

The author is biased and inaccurate in his views and has misrepresented facts from the Holy Bible regarding the person of Jesus Christ and his purpose. I wish to clarify some of the facts the Holy Bible reveals regarding Jesus Christ. The means by which God has revealed Himself to humanity is through His Word. This Word, the Holy Bible says became a Man, Jesus Christ, for the purpose of revealing God and His will to us in the most clear way possible and to become the atoning sacrifice for our sins. According to the Word of God, 'the wages of sin is death'. Our sins seperate us from God and bring upon us the 'just condemnation' of the Holy and Righteous One. Therefore, to save a condemned humanity that has deprived itself of God's life by their sin, God sent His Word to be the sinless Man and thus the perfect atoning Sacrifice for our sins. Jesus had to die in our place and for our sins, that we may have forgiveness for our sins and the hope of a Life with God. It is not possible for anyone else to save us from our sin, as all men, prophets or otherwise, have sinned and are in need of salvation themselves! Jesus's resurrection is the sign of God's approval that His Sacrifice has secured the perfect redemption for the sins of Humanity. Our trust in what Jesus has done for us is all we need, to save us on that final day. This is our only hope and confidence before God each day. The author says God has no son, well how does he know- through 'reason' or through 'revelation'? As he mentions the Holy Bible, let me answer him from there. In at least two occasions, here's what God says about Jesus- ' This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased' (Matthew 3:17) and again "This is My beloved Son, hear Him" (Luke 9:35). So, who can call Jesus any less than what God reveals of Him?
My rating for this book reflects my disappointment in how it untruly represents the Person and purpose of Jesus Christ and its misuse of the Holy Bible for the authors own biased agenda!

A solid primer on comparative religion explaining the most fundamental differences between the major world faiths.

The author does not hesitate to take on the claims of theists and atheists alike regarding God, measuring them against common sense and reason. He even criticises beliefs of some of his own religion's adherents showing that they are not so different from those they give the impression of opposing!

    Enough said. Listen for yourself...
