- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Pretty straight translation of a contemporary account of Alfred the Great's life by a monk and abbot who knew him. Lots of begets, battles described only by who won or loss, etc. Typical of sources of the time.
Interesting, but not a place to start learning about Alfred.
