About this audiobook
In C.J. Washington’s riveting debut novel, a deadly secret and a devastating betrayal collide to unravel the lives of two couples in crisis.
Amanda Jackson and her husband Derrick long to have a baby. But Amanda’s meandering road to motherhood has strained her marriage and she finds herself keeping secrets, even from her mother and sister. Feeling adrift—and beset by the sense that she can’t trust her own mind—Amanda turns to neuroscientist Patrick Davis for answers.
Patrick understands the strange twists and turns of the human mind better than anyone. But his expertise hasn’t helped as his own homelife crumbles. Like Amanda, his brilliant wife Marissa is harboring secrets and an immense guilt. But instead of turning to Patrick, she becomes obsessed with finding a scientific theory to restore what she’s lost.
As the two couples confront the fraught intersection of hope and regret, what they find could change their lives forever.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I read (or listen to) 3-4 books a month. And out of all the books I've consumed as of late, this one is the most original. I didn't expect it to be so math heavy, but definitely enjoy the uniqueness of the elements it brought to the story. I love both math and psychology, but I admittedly zoned out during some of the more technical rants about theories in each field. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the love stories between the characters. This novel left me with a smile on my face. I'd recommend it, and I think it is definitely worth your time.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm realizing that ebooks are not my favorite way to read when there are dates and times involved with chapters because it's hard to go back easily to see what how the timing evolves. Besides that....what an interesting story and a fascinating but welcome conclusion. The characters were appealing. Excellent effort for a first novel so I hope C.J. keeps writing.
