But while cleaning out Angela’s apartment, Shayna makes a startling discovery: a coded message meant for her alone…
Alive. Trust no one.
Taking the warning to heart, Shayna maintains the lie. She makes a positive ID on the remains and works to find out where—and why—her missing sister is hiding. Shayna retraces her sister’s footsteps, and they lead her down into Paris’s underbelly.

If you are a twin, you need to read this book. If you grew up with a sister, you need to read this book. A dramatic story of disappearance, code breaking, phobias and traumas, while exploring the depth and complexity of sibling relationships. Who do you trust? A stay up late page turner! - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

A bit disappointed with the plot as the synopsis sounded promising, a twin sister apparently murdered in Paris and her twin flies in from California to find things aren't what they seemed. The Paris locations and descriptions are good, building on the (US) author's three years at the Sorbonne, but the plot doesn't really progress fast enough, the searching twin managing to annoy everyone trying to help her. Using the catacombs backdrop could have been more effective and ramped up the tension. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

This book begins with a young woman, an identical twin, arrives in Italy, and has to identify the body of her murdered sister. Can’t even imagine, and there are a pile of hurts and family dynamics all hang out here, but there is also the twins special bond and language.
There is a lot of history here, and we experience some of it, in a rather scary way, the underground, the burial ground for thousands, and brothels. A rather scary place, and a lot of the story takes place in this dismal place.
There are answers here, but I kept changing my mind as to whom to trust, and when I finally made up my mind, wow, I was surprised, and along with the reason why bodies are appearing, and with the markings.
While the book wasn’t what I was expecting, and was a bit drawn up, I did keep reading to the end for answers.
I received this book though Great Escapes Virtual Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5

I was hoping all the characters would die, which sums up my feelings about The Missing Sister.
The main characters are twin sisters so unlikable that they don't even like each other. Our narrator considers herself the responsible, burdened sister who attends a local college, while her flaky, self-indulgent sister takes off to attend college in Paris. When the flaky sister disappears, the responsible sister reluctantly flies to Paris to find out what happened.
The responsible sister bulldozes through the missing sister's life, making ridiculous demands of people she doesn't know. And they all comply because, why not? The first three-quarters of the book is the responsible sister raging and complaining and whining about her flaky sister and all the injustices of their childhood, and doing stupid things as she stomps blindly through the police investigation to find her sister.
The missing plot finally appears during the last quarter of the book. This would have made for a powerful story, except it comes way too late and so we're rushed through to an unsatisfying end.
And there you have it. This is a quick read, with the content taking us through some interesting parts of Paris. You might love it. I did not.
