About this audiobook

The arctic night is endless. The fear is numbing. Screams freeze in the throat. Death arrives in shades of white. And cold-blooded murder seems right at home.

Conducting a strange and urgent experiment on the Arctic icefield, a team of scientists has planted sixty powerful explosive charges that will detonate at midnight. Before they can withdraw to the safety of their base camp, a shattering tidal wave breaks loose the ice on which they are working. Now they are hopelessly marooned on an iceberg during a violent winter storm. The bombs beneath them are buried irretrievably deep . . . and ticking. And they discover that one of them is an assassin with a mission of his own.

What our readers think

Readers find this title worth listening to, with a satisfying ending. It offers a good story, although some found it hard to follow due to technical jargon. While differing from other Koontz books, it keeps readers caught up in the story until the end.

Somehow made a murder mystery on a doomed to explode iceberg dull. Even the shoehorned anti-communist propaganda was boring and uninspired

Nothing like any of Koontz’s other books. But, I got so caught up in the story I didn’t think about that until after I had finished it. I would have liked a little more on a few of the characters in the epilogue. But that did not detract from the story or a satisfying ending.

Way too much technical jargon to enjoy. It was a good story just hard to follow for me.

This was a good book. Worth listening to. Quite a bit different from other Dean Koontz books.

Worst Koontz I've ever read. Almost didn't make it to the end.
