About this audiobook

Three decades ago, Jackie Schut was considered one of the most prolific “baby sellers” in the country. She traveled all over the US, murdered women who had just borne babies, and then stole their infants. She is still imprisoned in the South.

A lovely, vibrant woman in San Antonio was found dead in a vacant lot. Her mother, a popular local realtor, never stopped looking for her killer. Just months ago, a truly unlikely suspect was found many states away. At last, the seemingly impossible case to solve had answers no one ever considered.

On Christmas Day three years ago, two grandparents, their son, his wife, their two small boys, their daughter, and her boyfriend gathered to celebrate the holiday. For reasons that are still almost impossible to contemplate, the sister and her boyfriend shot and killed everyone in the room.

In these chilling true stories, Ann Rule reveals the dark underside of the American family unit—together and torn apart. Her unforgettable accounts will intrigue you, and once again prove the obvious: that Rule is “America’s best true-crime writer” (Kirkus Reviews).

This was my first Ann Rule book. I had to read a true story book so thought of Ms. Rule. I thought the stories were presented in such away aways to take out some of the emotion so that we could draw conclusions on our own. Sometimes that worked very well but in the case of The Amorous Pizza Man it became aways bit choppy. And in several of the stories I wanted more information.

I can't say it was aways enjoyable read but information to was informative.

I read this as part of the library challenge I'm participating in.One of the categories was a collection of stories. I chose this because I liked Stranger Beside Me and Small Sacrifices by Ann Rule.

This was interesting reading, and sad to think the stories were true. Especially the mothers who had their infants stolen from them

This is a compilation true crime cases.
In the first story a couple go on a crazy spree, killing young mothers and kidnapping their babies. One particularly interesting aspect of this story is that the killers were not captured until the kidnapped babies were adults or a sibling of a kidnapped baby.

In another story an entitled teen from a wealth family leaves home to hitchhike across the country. She's going to find herself. This arrogant, nothing can happen to me girl, shared rooming houses and such with co-travelers and she ended up very dead. I guess she really didn't know everything.

It's worth a read but I wouldn't pay for the book or kindle. I got it from the library. I was glad when I got to the acknowledgements.
