As editor-at-large of xoJane, she was responsible for many of the most popular articles of all time on the site, including Belle Knox, Charlotte Laws, and Stephanie Cegielski. She lives in New York with her husband.

Not sorry, not sorry, I did not particularly like this book. To me, it was scattered, it did seem like loads of blog post bundled up together. The content was interesting, surely, Stadtmiller makes many interesting and relevant points about toxic relationships and a toxic view of oneself (and how they influence one another). I did note down a few quotes from the book, and I want to acknowledge Stadtmiller for sharing her journey, for being open, vulnerable, outspoken. I don't think it would eb right or even ethical of me to say that I have "read better memoirs" because who am I to judge someone else's life, essentially, but the narration throughout the book seemed to me scattered, unstructured.
The revelations that the author is describing are kind of "dumped" on the reader. Things escalate quickly, it's like drizzles of abrupt narratives, rather than a congruent story.

I actually would have given this book at least 3 stars if you'd never subjected those poor dogs to your narcissistic, irresponsible, it's-all-disposable-if-it's-inconvenient world. You outright killed one of them with your childish irresponsibility and you sure didn't take any responsibility for the other one. I could not care less about your drugging, drinking and careless sex, but when you cause already-traumatized animals to suffer needlessly because you have to be taught caring and compassion, you've lost this reader. Then to have to listen to your self-aggrandizing last chapter was just too much. Evidently you are both superficial wastes of resources. And by the way, Keith Olbermann is WAY to good for you.

What a trip this was. Good for her for confronting her addictions head on and thriving as a sober person.
